Is this microphone on? Newbies "Squids"— welcome to the labyrinth within the world of motorcycling.
I’m Bo Scott, Editor-in-Chief at Factory Superbike in Oregon, where motorcycles aren’t just machines—they are my life's work. They’re my freedom, my passion and a little bit of style comes with that. Sport bikes? They’re the Black Super Tigers of the street, and I’ve got the scars (and stories) to prove, I know ‘em inside out. I learned the hard way starting at the age of 3. At the age of 13 I found out that cool names and great marketing don’t mean good products. Young me had saved up some money over the summer working a landscaping job, I spent my $75 on a sick “Lazer” helmet with 90's graphics and some Scott Goggles. I was in love temporarily. That helmet gave me a concussion faster than a turbo busa on biker boyz. I hit the dirt, and the dirt soccer kicked me in the head with a steel toe cement weighted boot.
My Point is, we have to many sales people "influencers" who are being utilized for historical knowledge. These guys are hawking gear for company "X" and any other goofy product like it’s a late-night infomercial for Miss Cleo the Psychic. They'll say anything, Why? Because they are broke and need the extra $. Can you say Fake News? Free swag, for video content isn't professional advice, it's your quick cash down the drain.
New Riders need sound advice, not Facebook forums and random squids doing wheelies on the road telling you a Lazer helmet is the way to go. They can't speak intelligently about the products. Most of these guys are kids just over 20.

The Real Deal: The motorcycle game’s gone off the deep end. You’ve got so-called "influencers" with less skill than a toddler on a tricycle telling you what gear to buy. These cats are out here acting like OnlyFans Females selling anything, they can get for free, pocketing commissions while you’re left with a Lazer helmet. They are there to create sales, that's it. Used car lot (buy here pay here) comes to mind, no credit no problem!
We have pros in the industry you can look to, and Factory SuperBike is one of those sources—We are real riders with decades of crashing to go with it. We know what is safe and what is fake news. You don’t need vibes to pick our your gear, you need facts. And at Factory Superbike you get the facts.

What Does a New Rider Need?
You wouldn’t ask the grocery clerk to tune your bike, so why trust some basement YouTuber for gear picks? Dirt, street, track, cruiser—whatever your ride, here’s the truth:
-
What Helmet’s Best for You?
Let’s start with the Arai : Arai helmets have incredibly clear visibility—non-negotiable. Optic-level-1 vision, think "a freshly Windexed window" Crystal Clear. Road noise? Wind howling in your ears is a one-way ticket to Fatigue Depo. This will effect your nervous system and wear you out. Racers stuff in earplugs or run helmets with wind guards for a reason. Fitment matters—if it’s wobbling like a bobblehead, you’re burnt, buffeting will mess with your vision. Enter Arai Helmets, the gold standard. These bad super chickens fit most head shapes like a glove, with top-tier optics and safety that’s been battle-tested. I got WWE-top-roped by that Lazer Helmet and never again used it for dome protection, I sold it to another kid. What else about Arai? Even the visor is safe, you could smack the pavement face first and you wont look like you got in a street fight with a jungle cat. Visors need to be able to handle massive impacts, from rocks to face plants. Cheap Visors shatter and will cut you up. No one wants to wear a set of glass eyes and walk with a white cane. Plus, everything’s replaceable—pads, visors, the works.

Dangers and Gear Value?
Roads don’t care about your feelings, skin, or face. On a ride, a friend cut a deer in half going the speed limit (lie - speeding like a bandit) that deer jumped out and all he could do was duck, pin it, and pray. He was all good. He was hurt, but he had on proper gear and was in an Arai Helmet. Your gear is your armor. Arai helmets leads in safety, comfort and visibility. If you cant see, you cant ride. You need perfect vision at night or dusk. Arai doesn't produce glare, and you are not in a car, you can lean away to a new spot for vision. You get one shot at this.
The Factory Superbike Difference
We’re not here to sell you hype—we’ve got the miles, the crashes, the scars and the experience. Factory Superbike’s your pit crew. Arai Helmets are our go-to because they’ve got the pedigree to prove it: ongoing testing, universal fit, and visors that don’t shatter like your ex’s promises. Compare that to the influencer "this is cool"—half the time, they’re peddling junk like they have a trench coat full of fake gold watches because it’s free, not because it works.
New riders, you’re in a golden age of options, but the noise is deafening. You're being sold to death and we get it. You need gear that performs. Get with Arai or ask us what we think would work best for your riding goals, send us a chat and we will get back to you asap.
NOTE: We do work with a few select Influencers, they are knowledgeable, respectable, smart and good people. They can speak intelligently and have the years and knowledge to speak. To those people who are insulted, well, do better and stop peddling in my industry.
