The Yoshimura Exhaust Wash Plug is a replacement muffler outlet plug that seals the exhaust while the motorcycle is being washed, preventing water from entering the canister and travelling back toward the engine.

On an off-road bike this is not a nicety. Water sitting in muffler packing rots it from the inside and kills sound damping long before heat would; water that reaches an open exhaust valve can do considerably worse. Every wash without a plug shortens the life of the packing, and a bike washed after every ride gets a lot of washes.

The plug pushes into the muffler outlet and seals against it, and the bright colour is deliberate — it is there so nobody starts the engine with the plug still fitted. Wash plugs are consumables: they perish, tear and get lost, which is why this is stocked as a standalone replacement.
