The Yoshimura RS-12 Full Exhaust System is a complete header-and-muffler replacement for a Yamaha application, built with a stainless steel header, an aluminum canister and a carbon fiber end cap.

The RS-12 replaced the RS-9 across Yoshimura's off-road range and brought a shorter canister with it. The benefit is not on a dyno sheet — it is in where the weight sits. A muffler hangs at the widest and highest point of a dirt bike, and shortening it moves mass toward the centre of the machine where the rider can work with it.

The header is the other half. On a four-stroke it shapes where in the rev range the power lands, which is why a full system changes how a bike feels in a way a slip-on cannot.
