xThe Yoshimura Spark Arrester Insert is the replacement spark arrester element for RS-4 mufflers.
Most public land in the United States managed by the Forest Service or the Bureau of Land Management requires an approved spark arrester on any off-road machine, and rangers check. A missing or burned-out arrester is one of the most common reasons a day's riding ends at a trailhead rather than on the trail.
Spark arresters are also a wear item rather than a permanent fitting. The screen carbons up and eventually burns through, which costs power as it clogs and costs compliance once it fails. Replacing the insert is far cheaper than replacing the muffler it sits in.
