Description
xThe Yoshimura Exhaust Mount Grommet is a high-temperature FKM (Z1024) isolator for muffler mounting brackets, replacing the rubber bush that separates the exhaust from its bracket.
The grommet is doing more work than its size suggests. It isolates the muffler from frame vibration, which is what stops a canister cracking at the mount, and it allows the small amount of movement an exhaust needs as it heats and expands. FKM is specified rather than ordinary nitrile because it holds its properties at the temperatures an exhaust bracket actually sees — a standard rubber grommet in that position goes hard, then crumbles.
A perished grommet shows up as a rattle from the muffler mount and, left long enough, as a cracked bracket or elongated mounting hole. It is a cheap part to replace and an expensive one to ignore.
