The Arai Contour-X Snake is a Snell M2025 and DOT certified full-face motorcycle helmet built on Arai's PB e-cLc shell with the VAS MAX Vision shield and Pinlock insert, weighing approximately 3.34 lb and cut for an intermediate oval head shape, in sizes XS through 2XL.

Head shape before size. The Contour-X is an intermediate oval helmet — for a head slightly longer front-to-back than side-to-side, the most common shape. If yours is rounder, the Quantum-X is Arai's round oval model; if it is long and narrow, the Signet-X. The shape matters more than the size, because no size corrects the wrong shape.

The Contour-X is Arai's lighter road helmet. At around 3.34 lb it comes in noticeably under the Corsair-X, because Arai replaced the old AR-mat middle layer in the shell with new proprietary materials specifically to save weight. Over a long day that is felt in the neck and shoulders rather than on a spec sheet — which is what makes the Contour-X the distance rider's Arai rather than the lap-time rider's.
