Akrapovič is one of the few exhaust manufacturers that pours its own titanium. The company runs a foundry in Slovenia and builds systems for MotoGP and World Superbike teams, and the Evolution Line is the closest thing in the catalogue to what those bikes run — the headers and mid-pipes are titanium rather than stainless, which is where most of the weight saving comes from.

On the R1 that adds up to 12.79 lb off the motorcycle and a measured 7.38 hp gain at 7,200 rpm, with power and torque up through the whole rev range rather than only at the top. On a bike that already makes near 200 hp, taking nearly thirteen pounds off the highest and furthest-back part of the chassis is the change you feel first.

The muffler's exhaust hanger is integrated into the canister in titanium, positioned to preserve lean angle — a detail that only matters if you actually use the R1 the way it was built to be used.
